AYSO 1390 Commission Meeting Minutes Thursday January 26, 2023

Attendees: Katie, Terry and Jasmine Jones, Allan Hancock, Chris Crum, Chloe Keener, Josh Turpin, Cary Mullens, Cullen Ball, David Crigger, Ryan Vaden, Alicia Pittman, Brandon Lasley

  1. Registration for Spring season: On line registration is open and on site registration will be held on Sat Feb 11 10am to 2pm. At least one 19U girls, one 14U team, three 12U teams, and 10U, 8U, 6U, and Academy are not known yet. Player registration fee is $75 and uniforms are $35. Interregional play begins March 25th for 8 games ending on May 13th.
  2. Treasurer Report:  AYSO 1390 acct: $12638.21; KSA acct: $1285.72. Outstanding invoices are: McGinley Lawn for repair of one Toro Workman at $427.94, Fesco for ice machine repair at $994.30. Management fee to Knox County Parks and Recreation $2500 (1/2 year).
  3. Training: Section 5 Expo will be held at The Island Resort 1500 Miracle Strip Parkway SE Fort Walton Beach, Florida 32548 on the weekend of Feb 17-Feb 19. Registration cost is $390.00. The Super Camp in Maryville is to be held in July.
  4. Work Days: Feb 11 10am to 12noon. Additional day next Saturday.
  5. Referee Administrator: No significant changes to the Laws of the Game for this season. Area has directed that slide tackles against other players is prohibited. Area wants to setup a spreadsheet (e.g. Google doc) to record the scores/wins for each match played to trend if games are not being played or are lopsided. Area wants to setup a Zoom meeting with all coaches and referees to convey important information.
  6. Field Development: CRICKET. The pitch (outdoor carpet over concrete) was finished before the start of Fall 2022 season. No cricket games were played in the fall. Parks and Rec are to deliver portable goals for these 2 fields this spring. The remaining fertilizer (~1 ton) and pelletized limestone (1 ton) were applied to the all fields in November. Some gravel, sand, and dirt have been applied to low places on the two large fields (west side of complex). Allan will look into having a load of dirt delivered to the fields. A pallet of grass seed in the metal building still needs to be applied.
  7. Field Equipment: Maintenance service was performed on the one of the Toro Workman by McGinley Lawn & Garden on Alcoa Highway. Yanmar and Massey Ferguson tractors are operational. A new funnel spreader was purchased last year and has worked very well. Plans are being made to sell the Toro finishing lawnmower (with the 3 mowing decks) as it is not being used. Allan plans on purchasing two more Toro Workman MDX ATV’s so we can have a total of 5 or to sell the 2 older ones.
  8. Volunteers: Jasmine Jones was nominated and approved by vote to be the CVPA. Jerry Jones is the Safety Director. Still need some coaches for the younger ages. Cary Mullens was commended for doing a good job as the Coach Administrator, and managing the Academy. Chloe, in addition to being the Uniform director, Registrar, and coach said she was going to assist Cary in running the Academy. Alicia Pittman and Brandon Lasley expressed interest in the referee training.
  9. Uniforms: Chloe presented the uniforms for the region. These are Hunter Green Icelandic. She will order these for the players.
  10. Area/Section Games: Area games will be held at AYSO 1390 fields on May 19-21 with $5/weekend parking. Section games will be held at Ball Camp fields on June 9-11.
  11. Parking Lot: The large main parking lot was paved with asphalt during the Fall season. Gravel was placed on the north side of the asphalt (facing Straw Plains Pike) to extend the width up to about 10 feet. Instead of Parks & Rec painting/stripping the lot, we will look at someone to do it according to the original parking setup. The parking spaces had been 10 feet wide and the length were from 16 to 20 feet deep.
  12. Banners: Allan suggested some kind of banners flying from poles that will list one of the six different AYSO philosophies and to be placed on the grounds. This was voted on and passed. Allan will look into purchasing these.
